Bible Week!

A whole week of camping, having fellowship with my family (the best people in the world!), meeting with our Lord and experiencing His goodness! I can think of no better place to be!

Photos will follow soon...

Sunday, May 21, 2006

I have noticed that The Bible and it's implications in today's society have recently been issues of debate in the blogging arena. You can read what my good friends have written about it here: www.unitedinpassion.blogspot.com and www.rogeraubrey.typepad.com

The Word of God and its authenticity seems to be constantly under attack in today's society. I went to see The Da Vinci Code yesterday and, although I thought it was a good film, it does worry me that people will interpret it as truth. In essence, the film is a total attack on Jesus' divinity and the authenticity of the Bible.

If we take away Jesus' divinity, we take away the whole purpose of His life, death and resurrection. We take away the one true atoning sacrifice that reconciles man to God. Jesus WAS and IS and ALWAYS WILL BE the eternal, begotten Son of God. John the Baptist said of Him: "Behold the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world."

I know that Jesus is God because He is my saviour and He lives in my heart. He guides me in the way everlasting and has made a way for us where there once was no way.

"Jesus loves me, this I know. For the Bible tells me so."

This is a verse from a very old song, but it is a song I love because of it's simplicity. I know Jesus died for me and loves me because the Bible tells me so. Such faith is not blind faith, but faith of total assurance of salvation, righteousness and peace with God. ("Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." Hebrews 11:1)

Salvation is found in Jesus alone. He is the only way way to God, the only truth and the only life. Not only did He die, but was raised to life and is now seated at the highest place of honour. The proof of this is that He has now poured out His promised Holy Spirit, so that we (His church) could be clothed with power from on high. I am so glad that Jesus has revealed Himself to me, that God would use me in His sovereign plan. Do you want to know the real Jesus today? The Jesus who holds the whole universe together by His powerful Word. Why don't you ask Him to reveal Himself? Ask Him to reveal Himself to you today as you read His Word, The Bible!

Monday, May 15, 2006

Have just realised that it has been over 100 days since my last entry ...

Just finished school and am currently sat in the staffroom enjoying my well-deserved cup of earl grey (a teacher's best friend!) as I am writing this.

Had an amazing time at church with the best people in the world yesterday. The Holy Spirit was powerfully present and Ezekiel brought a word on the holiness of God. Been thinking a lot today about how amazing God's Church is and how much I love it. Am so privileged and honoured to be a part of a people who love and accept me, a people that love God's Kingdom and are passionate about His purpose, a people filled with the Holy Spirit and power from on high.

It has stopped raining now, so had better go and get my tram home....

Saturday, January 28, 2006

God is good and His lovingkindness endureth forever. I woke up this morning with a song on my heart, it is a very simple song that we used to sing at our church based in Cardiff a couple of years ago. It goes:

"Thank you Lord for a beautiful day, thank you Lord for a beautiful day, thank you Lord for a beeeeeaautiful day!"

Remarkably simple song with a remarkably simple truth... and yet what a great start to the day!

Sunday, November 20, 2005

"I have come that you might have life in all its fullness" JOHN 10:10

Had the most amazing time this morning. Today I have met with the best people in the world, the most generous people in the world, a people chosen, a people called out of this world, a people redeemed, ransomed and bought with a price. Not just any old people... but a people belonging to God. A peeople totally surrended to the Will and purpose of God. A people passionately living their lives to make King Jesus famous. I am proud to say that these wonderful people are my brothers and sisters. Each of us living for the same thing, the same purpose. Each of us having the same Spirit living inside of us. What is more, not only did I meet with these wonderful brothers and sisters, but I also met with King Jesus Himself.

Who is this King Jesus I hear you ask? Let me tell you a bit about Him:
"He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things in heaven and on earth, visible or invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together."

Today, my exhortation is very simple: Live life to the full. Live for King Jesus today. For He is the only one who is worthy of all praise.

"Now this is eternal life; tht they may know you, the one true God, and Jesus Christ, who you sent." JOHN 17:3

Tuesday, September 20, 2005

Year 7 had their CATS exams today (no, the exams were not on the subject of the animal known as a "cat", contary to what various members of my form group had asked me on 4 separate occasions.... and, yes, they were being totally serious!)

150 of them lined up in the playground and then escorted into the sports hall is just a recipe for disaster... and a legistical nightmare! However, the highight of the exam for me was when the chief invigilator began the exam saying: "If anyone cannot hear me at the back, then put your hand up now." .....
Isn't it amazing that the only reason for us being here is to serve God's purpose in our generation?!! When this purpose has been fully accomplished (God is faithful and true to His Word, it never returns to him void), we go to spend eternity with our Father. How awesome. Let us never stop running after His purpose in this present age, in "our generation." Now is the time. Now is the hour. Seize the moment.

Friday, September 16, 2005

I am currently on my lunchbreak and thought I would venture back into the world of blogging for the first time in a while. Started my new job beginning of last week and so far have had:

1 fight involving 3 year 11 boys in my maths lesson, 1 boy fracturing his elbow in the above incident, 1 chair being thrown, 1 year 11 class which appears to contain some of the most streetwise kids I have ever known in my entire life, have been called "Speccy" (one can only presume this was a reference to my glasses) during break duty, and have generally had the busiest 2 weeks of my entire life.

What an eventful 2 weeks! However, I have not yet been shot at (which is a good thing) and I have the most adorable year 7 tutor group who are petrified of me and incapable of doing anything without the most specific instructions being given to them. I love year 7's... how I wish all classes were like them!

Isn't it amazing that when we live for the Kingdom, we can go into any circumstance and bring His rule and authority there?! God gave me a scripture earlier:

"For the Kingdom God is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost." (Romans 14:7)

What a Kingdom we live for!

Friday, August 19, 2005

Our house has just flooded. When I say this, I am not exagerating. There is what resembles a waterfall coming down from our upstairs bathroom through the kitchen roof (which recently caved in, bringing with it rivers of water). Hhhhhhmmmmm.

There was no flood in the house before the plumber came to change our water tank. There was no flood in the house when he left. No. It only started to flood 10 minutes after he left. I was downstairs cooking when I heard what sounded like the Niagra Falls. When I realised that this wasn't a manifestation of the Holy Spirit I ran upstairs to see water pouring out of the top of the tank onto our nicely cleaned floor. Okay. No problem. Nothing we can't handle. Get the mop. Hhhhhmmmmmm. It won't stop. Oh dear. It's getting worse. ARGH! It's now 2 inches deep and it is now gushing forth in what can only be metaphorically compared to something like the Baptism in the Holy Spirit.

After going downstairs to get as many towels as possible (my 3 buckets filled within seconds, seeing this was a useless task I set about trying to save the hallway carpet), I heard what was now becoming a very familiar sound coming from the kitchen. Oh dear. There was a huge indentation in the ceiling, with water pouring, hang on, no, GUSHING from the roof. I filled 2 black wheely bins full of water from the leak.... and it was STILL pouring. WHY DO THESE THINGS HAPPEN WHEN EVERYONE ELSE IS OUT???!!!

For some reason, I found this strangely hysterical and when Judah and Rach came round they saw me answer the door soaked from head to foot laughing quite hysterically. What they must have thought I am not quite sure. After phoning the plumber, and being told the earliest he could come round was in an hour I feared the entire house could be under water by then!!! Well, the emergency plumber has since stopped the leak and informed us that we had a "cowboy" who had done the job earlier in the day.

Praise God for He is good. Praise God for this house, that we are insured, and that He protects us always. If we had been away for the weekend, it would have been LOADS worse!

Am really looking forward to this weekend. Going to a party tonight, Dans stag doo tomorrow... and my birthday on sunday. Plus... because our kitchen is currently underwater, me and Russ are able to get a takeaway to eat tonight. Yay!

Sunday, August 07, 2005

"If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" 2 CORINTHIANS 5:17

I woke up this morning not a patched-up sinner with baggage, not a reformed person, not even a "beter version" of my old self. No. I woke up this morning as a BRAND NEW CREATION in Christ. And I will wake up tomorrow morning a BRAND NEW CREATION in Christ. And I will wake up every morning of my life on this earth as a BRAND NEW CREATION in Christ. I woke up this morning as a saint who who holy and blameless in God's sight. I woke up dead to sin and alive to Christ. I woke up as more than a conquerer, an overcomer. I woke up with Christ living in me, the hope of glory.

I am so thankful that as Christians we don't have to strive towards these things, it is just who we are. The Spirit of the law of life has set us free from the law of sin and death! All we need to know is the earth-shattering truth about these statements and we would begin to live in victory (which is ours in Christ Jesus incidentally).

"Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
JOHN 8:32

What wonderful truths tht are relevant not only for today, but tomorrow, next week, next month and next year. Every day until the glorious coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
